“For we are all God’s masterpiece.”

Ephesians 2:10

Holly Lee lives a creative life with her husband, in Southern Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, where she paints often in her home studio. She was born with a natural talent that she believes is a special gift from God. Her aspiration is to use this ability to glorify His name and kingdom.

Her life-long dream and journey of painting began the summer of 2008 when she attended informal, local watercolor classes. There she learned foundations in color theory and composition that she was then able to transition into her medium of choice, oil paint. She continues to have a fondness for watercolor and pursues painting with that medium as well.

During her creative process, there is a deep spiritual connection that takes place. Knowing her faith and her art are intertwined she relies on divine intervention to guide her heart and brush.

While she does not limit her subject matter, she has a fondness for florals and landscapes, reflecting upon the beauty of creation in and of itself. Although her artwork begins in reality, her process evolves through creativity rather than trying to copy an image. She works in spontaneous, gestural brush strokes, inviting the viewer’s imagination to complete the painting. In order to keep each piece fresh, she uses the ‘alla prima’ or ‘wet on wet’ technique, finishing each in one session, without retouching. Her bold interpretation and vibrant color palette conveys the emotions of joy and enthusiasm which have become a trademark in her work.
